Arizona’s Immigration Imagination: an opening to a REAL rant.

2009 April 2

Arizona’s state officals and legislators have imagined, and made I add, made come to life one of the toughest state legislations regarding immigration enforcement in the country. Good for Arizona, gettin’ down to business. New York Times reporter RANDAL C. ARCHIBOLD published an article in February of 2008 (which I added a link to, in case you were curious) where Mesa Representative Russel Pearce patted the initiave, and himself, on the back by saying “The desired effect was, we don’t have the red carpet out for illegal aliens,” Mr. Pearce said, adding that while “most of these are good people” they are a “tremendous burden” on public services.
The whole operation, however, seems to be a tremendous burden on public services, albeit not the one’s in which Pearce is likely referring to. The effect of the sweeping (and i do mean sweeping!) enforcement by Sheriff’s officers and ICE agents in the state leave an damned enormous caseload piling up on the desks of District Judicial officials. Money money money, it does cost such to deal with these! Economic slowing can’t support this… the state is pretty damned broke from what I understand. Education cuts totaled what rediculous number just this quarter alone?! I don’t even want to bring it up… its almost embarrassing. That aside, I suppose that the Sheriff’s Dept. doesn’t have much else to do, being as all the rest of the laws are enforced by… whom? Speeding cameras i freakin’ suppose. There are no other crimes the likes of which the police should be enforcing is what this massive directive to round up illegal workers and shut down businesses focus of the Dept. is saying to me! I suppose that I haven’t been mugged, robbed, run over or shot since I moved here, so there really must be no other criminal activity in the Phoenix area for which to spend their time stopping! ‘There is a burden on our social programs because of immigrants’ so logically the thing to do wouldn’t of course be rethink to whom and such benefits are given! Not the case in sunny Maricopa County. Lets spend all the money we save by housing our arrested immigrants in tents (Cuz the jail has become overcrowded with these, since enacted legislation, criminal immigrants) and spend it on paying our police to raid local employers, capture the illegal workers, and shut down contributors to the local economy! No, there couldn’t possibly be an impact on the economy cuz of that, could there? Hell no! By geroge, I think this state has a cure for the common Mexican! Did that sound racist? I was simply keeping with the theme of Maricopa County Sheriff and immigration officials! The question has raised some pretty important eyebrows as to what is being done to seek out and capture illegal immigrants is racial profiling… I think that when you say, you’re brown, where you from beaner? Show me you’re green card! That’s pretty much an assumption based on racial profiling… but hey, what the fuck do I know! I am from New Mexico, I bet I would get deported!
