Where Should the UN Focus Its Peacekeeping Resources, and Why? | U.S. Department of State Blog.

ON everyone that’s fighting?!  It’s been a while since I’ve picked on Asia (actually it’s been awhile since i’ve picked on anyone, long enough that I almost forgot just why I gave a crap – then I got bored again I suppose and here I am)

I think that Asia, more specifically NKorea and the lot, would be a good place to start. I think that perhaps now is as a good a time as any to bring a little diplomacy back to N. Korea. I know that I once had this notion of discussion without preconditions… I think in this case its still pretty much a go. I suppose there would be one precondition, and it would simply be to check your mail for the invite to discussion.   The time to squeeze and ignore are coming to an end and there are certain issues that I am sure all parties involved want to get out on the table. I like the idea of nonproliferation (call me silly but I also like the idea of over-size inflatable boxing gloves in the diplomatic arena, so I’m obviously a little strange) I also like the idea of listening and talking and sometimes screaming, and of course a few colorful words every now and again only tends to lead to an expell of animosity after which people can take  a deep breath, and talk like adults.

The fragile situations and feelings involved in diplomacy with leaders such as that of NK is not to be taken lightly. I am well aware of the unpopularity of the idea, giving the opportunity for discussion without any conditions for doing so before hand. I understand this is not the typical policy held. but sometimes things need to change in order to capture the big picture.  Economic warfare is what has been waged over the years, and like any other type of warfare there must be a point when it is to be terminated.  Perhaps the objective has not been achieved, and perhaps the objective will not be if the policy guiding the act does not change to accommodate the present circumstance.
